About Me

Loves traveling, taco trucks, and talking about 19th century Austrian football culture

My story began in a small Texas town with only three stoplights. I moved to Austin and graduated from the University of Texas with degrees in Art History and English with a plan to work in an art museum. Plans changed, however, so I moved to New York City with my future wife and decided to pursue a career in graphic design. It was very cold that first year!

Despite having no practical experience or design education, I managed to get my foot in the door at Marvel Comics IT department answering phone calls. I learned design software, digital coloring, typography, and layout while shadowing the famous Marvel Bullpen artists. Eventually, I transitioned into web design and helped work on the first digital comics. I got to work with comic book legends like Alex Ross and Alan Davis!

I spent two years working at JWT and Everyday Health working in the digital healthcare space before arriving at CNBC. In my nine years there, I was able to grow along with the organization as CNBC Digital evolved into a full-fledged product design studio. It allowed me the opportunity to see our digital products grow from vendor-sourced solutions to in-house design-driven initiatives including the CNBC Roku application as well as the CNBCAlex and Google Home apps.

I worked the next 2 years working at Kaiser Permanente on consumer-facing applications for medical appointments. It was there that I learned how critical accessibility was to the consumer experience. Twenty-six percent of the US population has some kind of disability.

I am currently working at West Monroe Partners in their Product & Experience Lab.
